Built around 1720, the original resides in the permanent collection of The Connecticut Historical Society. It’s a unique example of early 18th century furniture produced in the Connecticut Valley region of New England. While the graceful cabriolet legs, drawer construction and drop pendants are indicative of the Queen Anne period other parts of the design, such as the cyma curves at the bottom of the case sides along with the attached cockbead and molding around the drawer openings, indicate influences from the William and Mary period.
While the plans were taken from an article by Glen D. Huey, Construction of this dressing table reproduction has its own unique history since it was created using air-dried cherry lumber reclaimed from trees blown down during the 2006 tornado that devastated parts of Warrick County, Indiana. The finish is pre-catalyzed lacquer. Hardware is from Londonderry Brasses.
